# Development

> [!NOTE]
>
> **Prerequisites**:
>
> * Node.js version 19 or higher
> * Flask>=2.0.0
> * Fastapi>=0.95.0

**1. Install the Logspot UI**

```bash theme={null}
npm i -g logspot-ui
```

**2. Preview locally**

Navigate to your /log route to view the logs.

```bash theme={null}
https://your-site.com/logs
```

A local preview of your logspot will be available at `http://localhost:3000`.

## Code formatting

We suggest using extensions on your IDE to recognize and format code. If you're a VSCode user, consider [Prettier](https://marketplace.visualstudio.com/items?itemName=esbenp.prettier-vscode) for code formatting.

## Troubleshooting

> **Error: Could not load the "logspot-ui" module**
>
> This may be due to an outdated version of node. Try the following:
>
> 1. Remove the currently-installed version of the CLI: `npm remove -g logspot-ui`
> 2. Upgrade to Node v19 or higher.
> 3. Reinstall the CLI: `npm i -g logspot-ui`

> **Issue: Encountering an unknown error**
>
> Solution: Go to the root of your device and delete the `~/.node_modules `folder. Then run `npm i`again.
